IT DON'T MEAN A THING...IF YOU AIN'T GOT A "GOOD GOLF" SWING...

The importance of having full length orthotics in your golf shoes.

Not much attention has been paid to the role of the foot and ankle in the sport of golf, especially during the swing phase.
Stabilizing the feet in shoes is critical. Golf shoes with traction have been around for many years, but sole shape and soles are much the same, though golf foot wear is more specialized for golf biomechanics.
Postural control is a key component of the back swing and follow through. Firmly planted feet can improve shot accuracy and possibly an increase in distance.
Foot slippage and/or over-rotation in golf shoes can negatively affect your swing. A recent study suggests flexible full length orthotics may influence a golfer's balance and proprioception resulting in a better “SWING.”
My sister-in-law lives in Reno and is an avid golfer. Her golf pro teacher was constantly asking her to keep her feet straight, but due to knee issues was unable to follow his directions continually. Once I positioned her on my orthotic scanning machine and added some medial wedging to the custom inserts made for her, she has been able to be consistent in her postural control and have a “GOOD GOLF BACK SWING.”

NOW SHE IS ON TRACK TO MATCH HER HUSBAND’S SCORES!

"SAVING YOUR SOLE"

A Johns Hopkins medical newsletter states that many people can benefIt from custom molded inserts in properly fitted and balanced shoes in order to address foot problems.

In some cases, over the counter arch supports/inserts and MORE IMPORTANTLY, correctly fitted shoes, are enough to help most people with foot pain.

PEDORTHISTS are trained to deal with foot and gait problems that are typically related to ill-fitting shoes. Walk Rite For Life has for decades, understood both by training and experience, the role of proper footwear.

Patricia Pande, MCIScPT, CSCS, Certified Pedorthist is a physical therapist and founder of Foot Centric, Greenville NC. Foot Centric is dedicated to comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment of the foot and ankle; she writes:

"The role of proper footwear for sole health."

The present body of knowledge states that orthotics should:
1.   be comfortable
2.   provide shock absorbtion
3.   not increase torque in other lower extremity joints
4.   fit well into the shoes
5.   be customizable for patient comfort and shoe fit
Recognizing the importance of the shoes being fit corrently and ONLY then recommending inserts or orthotics is the gold standard of care for foot problems.

CERTIFIED PEDORTHISTS CAN HELP YOU SAVE YOUR SOLE.

PLANTAR FASCIITIS IN YOUR ROOTS?

Plantar fasciitis is the inflammation, fraying and or tearing of the plantar fascia, resulting from excessive stress, and tension on the planter tendon. The Plantar Fascia is a thick fibrous band of tissue that originates from the heel and fans across the bottom of the foot in a V-shape. It maintains the shape of the arch of your foot.

Activities such as carrying heavy loads, walking and running up and down hills, standing for long periods of time or athletic activities without PROPER FOOTGEAR can create plantar fascia strain. FOOTWEAR such as WORN OUT, UNSTABLE, INCORRECTLY FITTED OR INAPPROPRIATE SHOES FOR THE ACTIVITY can excessively strain the plantar fascia. Also, aging, significant weight gain and overly worn shoes can put one at risk for developing Plantar Fasciitis.

"Check your shoes – if they are out of alignment  so is your plantar fascia. We at Walk Rite help you chose shoes that correctly align your feet."

See a Pedorthist for proper footwear and preferably custom orthotics. Pedorthist are uniquely trained and skilled for the most complete application of proper footwear and custom orthotics. Pedorthists understand how proper inserts; shoes and maintenance can resolve Plantar Fasciitis.

EARLY TREATMENT IS ESSENTIAL.
